Flint Hills Resources Maintenance Shop and Warehouse Facility

New Facility Consolidated and Improved Operations

TKDA provided programming, architectural, and engineering services for the planning and development of Flint Hills Resources’ Maintenance Shop and Warehouse Facility. This 135,000 SF facility consolidates multiple shops on the refinery site–the Mechanical and Machining Shop, Expansion Valve Shop, Instrumentation Shop, Analysis Shop, Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Shop, Fresh Air Shop, Blind Shop, Trap Shop, Insulators Shop, and includes four separate Reliability Centers.

The shops are supported with 24,000 SF of offices, conference rooms, and lunchrooms, along with 29,000 SF of warehouse space. We also provided site work for the facility as the project impacted 32 acres on the 210-acre refinery site. Our civil engineering design services included site grading, plant roadways, parking, stormwater management, utilities, and perimeter security.
